The Department of Medicine (DOM) is responsible for fulfilling the teaching, research, and clinical missions of the University of California, San Diego. The DOM is comprised of 20 divisions, 434 full time faculty (including 56+ FTEs), 425+ non-salaries clinical faculty, 90+ researchers, 125+ postdoctoral fellows, 80+ housestaff, and several visiting appointments. Staff personnel include 700+ staff in 9 bargaining units, students, and volunteers. The total annual budget is approximately $90 million, which includes approximately $50 million in contract and grant revenues. Grant activity includes 500 active awards.
Uses advanced operational concepts and objectives to resolve highly complex issues. Regularly works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Primarily deals with programs and proposals with broad impact across the function, research initiative, program and / or organization. Develops and oversees the implementation of new programs and processes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSSeven years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelors degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training.
Advanced knowledge of common organizational- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
Advanced knowledge of using research to shape and inform policy discourse in India, including time spent living and working in Country.
Knowledge of India's social, health, and economic policies.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and influence, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
Advanced project management skills.
Thorough knowledge of organizational or initiative processes, protocols and procedures.
Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
Advanced knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
Advanced analytical / problem-solving skills.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check.
Must be willing and able to travel.
