DESCRIPTION

Works independently or with a crew. Inspects work areas, analyzes and determines required materials, and prepares the area including but not limited to securing and removing fixtures. Performs journey level painting procedures using brush, roller, conventional and airless paint spraying equipment in connection with the maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, and equipment following EPA codes and regulations. Repairs stucco, lath and plaster.

  • Occasional overtime required.


Possible Work Shifts:

  • Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm
  • Tuesday - Friday, 5:00am - 3:30pm
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of and experience working with construction materials used in painting trade. Experience determining repair needs.

  • Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to frequently changing priorities and work assignments. Skills to organize and prioritize work

  • Ability to communicate and relate to students, public, and staff both verbally and in writing.

  • Knowledge and experience in the installation and preparation of drywall and plaster surfaces.

  • Skills to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Experience preparing surfaces to be painted such as sanding, scraping, wire brushing, and strip with a stripping compound.

  • Thorough knowledge of and experience using all power (including power saw, power sander, airless spray gun) and hand tools used in performance of assigned tasks, including cleaning and care.

  • Experience working with different types of cements such as plastic or common.

  • Strong demonstrated ability to read color chart, finish schedules, and interpret drawings and sketches.

  • Ability to safeguard areas and keys assigned to you.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and diplomacy.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working within related safety regulations and practices. Knowledge and ability to work in a safe manner according to local, federal, state and university requirements.

  • Ability to effectively interact with diverse groups of people.

  • Ability to work well in a team or alone.

  • Ability to operate electric and hydraulic lifts and scaffolding.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • DOJ/FBI background check and clearance required prior to hire.

  • DMV check required prior to hire. Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver License.

  • Must be able to move through limited access spaces and cover distances on foot to widely separated work sites.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $87,216 - $87,216 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $41.77 - $41.77

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
