This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at locations in San Diego and remote.

DESCRIPTION

The UC San Diego Department of Psychiatry is searching for a creative and innovative Health Education Specialist/Research Coordinator to support initiatives to grow a more inclusive workforce of child and adolescent psychiatrists. Under the direct supervision of Medical Director and Principal Investigator, this candidate will help coordinate this longitudinal program that supports, educates, and provides resources to encourage interest in pediatric psychiatry careers. The position will involve assisting with curricular materials, including e-learning modules, special events, community partnerships, and support with research outcomes, including writing. The Health Education Specialist/Coordinator will help recruit and select participants as well as plan, develop, monitor programming. In collaboration with the Medical Director, the candidate will interface with multiple partners, university offices and community agencies. This position also provides operational and organizational support for the program, including data collection and reports. The coordinator will assist on any additional funded studies related to medical trainee well-being and self-compassion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelors degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training.

  • Demonstrate experience coordinating implementation of professional health educational activities which may include program competencies, curriculum, and assessments. Proven ability to develop curriculum and coordinate evaluations for continued program improvement.

  • Proven ability to oversee data collection and maintenance for analysis and liaise with statistical team.

  • Demonstrate ability to lead recruitment efforts. Experience with coordinating program educational activities and special events such as scholarly symposia and conferences. Demonstrate ability with coordination of all program educational activities and special events.

  • Communication skills; includes verbal, written and active listening. Service oriented and responsive to questions and requests. Ability to interact in a professional, resourceful, and courteous manner. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and influence, both verbally and in writing. Ability to provide comprehensive recommendations and solutions that address project needs.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to develop working relationships within department and with learners. Proven ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality. Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, flexibility, and skills in dealing with politically sensitive situations.

  • Excellent organizational skills, analytical, and demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to work with extremely complex faculty calendars / schedules requires extremely well organized and detail oriented precision.

  • Knowledge of educational technology and systems. Ability to troubleshoot and triages related technology issues.

  • Investigative, data analysis, and reporting skills. Ability to generate computer reports, checking for errors, correcting and submitting accurate reports. Skills include entering, maintaining, extracting, and analyzing data in electronic systems. Demonstrated knowledge of common organizational- or research-specific and other computer application programs. Demonstrated knowledge of Google Suite, MS Office Suite - Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Demonstrated experience brainstorming and participating in group problem solving techniques, willingness to share skills and knowledge with colleagues.

  • Proven ability to work effectively and with equal efficiency both in a team environment and independently, with minimal supervision, while responding to shifting priorities, fluctuating workloads, and deadline pressures.

  • Experienced in leading projects that engage a diverse constituency and key stakeholders. Project leadership experience which includes familiarity with project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle. Knowledge of organizational or initiative processes, protocols and procedures.

  • Demonstrate ability to monitor budgeting of programs and track all expenses.

  • Experience with individualizing learner reports and assessments for medical students and residents. Proven ability to create timelines of trainee tracks and aggregate progress based on trainee tracks.

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining program communication resources such as maintaining program websites, generating brochures, managing social media marketing and collateral production and maintaining contact lists.

  • Strong demonstrated experience in developing the curriculum such as an in depth exploration of child and adolescent psychiatry, wellness, cultural humility, and leadership in conjunction with the Medical Director.

  • Proven ability to coordinate evaluations for continued program improvement and to recruit and invite professional speakers to teach components of coursework.

  • Proven ability work on e-learning module initiatives, and to coordinate with educational technology and systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced degree in related field.
